Exit Through the Gift Shop

“Banksy will never again help anyone create a documentary about street art.”

Those are the last words of Banksy’s documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop, which was awesome and thoroughly entertaining. As a film, it was well made. It was light, funny, interesting, and ultimately a sort of fuck-you (but in an oddly friendly sort of way) to someone who ended up being a clueless chaser of fame and money. I know of Banksy’s artwork peripherally, and can only really say that I appreciate its strong anti-advertising/consumerism/commercialism perspective, which is the reason I’m writing about this now. Go watch it; it takes you to unexpected places. Here’s a trailer:
